After 2 years of talking about it, I finally cut my hair. The last time I cut my hair was when I was in varsity and I barely remember what it felt like or what I even looked like.
There’s a few reasons why I wanted to cut it.
- Firstly my hairline was relatively fine but it was only a matter of time before it gave in to all the braiding so I knew I would have to start afresh in due time.
- Secondly I have been having afro envy for a while now and with all the information that is available about how to take care of natural hair, I just wanted to try it out.
- Thirdly, I was craving the freedom that natural hair comes with, not worrying about sweating at the gym, swimming without a swimming cap or taking a shower without a shower cap.
So post the chop, I have been reading watching videos on Youtube about taking care of natural hair, I will share in future blog posts the products that I have used as well as what I have learnt. I have also been swimming with my son a lot, washing my hair almost daily and sweating freely at the gym. It’s been liberating!
