It is award season once again and to kick off the big ones, The 73rd Annual Golden Globes took place this past Sunday. The key trend on the red carpet was capes, honestly if you weren’t wearing a caped outfit, you must have felt like you missed the memo. Here is what it looked like.
We’ll start it off with some moments, Wiz Khalifa attended with his mom and they shared a kiss on the red carpet.
The Smiths and Tatums also shared a friendly moment when they bumped into each other on the red carpet, such love!
Regina King wore a metallic dress with a white cape by Krikor Jabotian. Her hair was styled in a retro look, I would have preferred stud earrings to drop earrings because there’s already so much going on with her hair and dress. She looks beautiful.
Jane Fonda looked elegant and stylish in a long sleeve white dress with ruffled top by Yves Saint Laurent. Stunning.
Taraji P. Henson wore a simple white dress with a cape by Stella McCartney. She won the Best Actress in a Drama TV series award for her role as Cookie in Empire.
Eva Longoria wore a white gown with a middle slit and playful, colourful embroidery by Georges Hobeika. I feel like we will look back on this dress in two years’ time and be like “what was she thinking?”
In the last two years Kate Hudson has been killing it on the red carpet, this year I was a bit disappointed in her look. She wore a nude beaded dress by Michael Kors. I think the dress would have been better off without the choker part of it and just left it as strapless and worn with beautiful diamonds.
Corinne Foxx was Miss Golden Globe 2016. She wore a nude tulle dress with silver embroidery. This girl is so gorgeous, she walked the red carpet with her father Jamie Foxx. Also on the red carpet was Kevin Hart and his fiancé.
Cate Blanchett was the queen of fringe for the evening. She wore a light pink fringed retro gown by Givenchy. She always takes risks and wears dresses that others would be scared to, you can always trust he to bring some excitement to the red carpet. This dress does border on being a bit costume-y (as they would say on Project Runway) but it is also just glamour from every angle.
Katy Perry looked pretty in pink, she is wearing a gown by Prada. I love this hue of pink, it is just gorgeous. She looks like she is spanked to death under there.
I love the silhouette of this dress on her, her body looks flawless. Olivia Wilde is wearing a deep red sequin gown by Michael Kors.
Zendaya Coleman continues to cement her status as a young style icon. She is wearing a deep red peplum tiered gown by Marchesa. Just Gorgeous.
Jennifer Lawrence was in Dior as always. She wore an orange cut-out gown with an illusion of a cape. It’s such an intelligently made dress, I was looking at the front and back views trying to figure out what happened to the cape, just lovely. She also won the Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy Motion Picture award for her role in Joy.
Amy Adams wore a simple orange gown by Versace. The colour complements her red hair and blue eyes and cinches at the waist perfectly. This is a dress that I would have expected Kate Hudson to wear.
Angela Bassett does not look 57 years old!! Such a youthful glow. She is wearing an orange gown by Safiyaa. I love the long bob on her adds to her youthfulness.
Jennifer Lopez brought some sunshine to the red carpet in a yellow Giambattista Valli draped gown with a cape and of course a slit for Jenny to show some leg. I love how the dress is draped around her hips and butt and of course the cape. She could have done without the necklace and gone for a softer lippie. Nonetheless she looks amazing.
Olivia Palermo attended in a strapless, playful Delpozo dress.
Jada Pinkett Smith wore green Versace dress. She walked the red carpet with husband Will Smith.
Queen Latifah wore a sky blue gown with a cape by Badgley Mischka.
Jenna Dewan Tatum wore a navy ball gown with a plunging neckline by Zuhair Murad. She walked the red carpet with husband Channing Tatum.
When I saw this dress on Viola, a navy gown with silver embellishments, I immediately thought, this has to be a Marchesa dress and it is. She looks like a princess, oh and it has a cape too! Like I said it was the night of the capes.
Lady Gaga channelled Marilyn Monroe, she wore a black velvet gown by Atelier Versace. She won a Best Actress in a Limited Series or TV Movie award for her role in American Horror Story.
Uzo Aduba looked stunning in a black cape dress by Talbot Runhof.
