I just had to share Jessica Alba’s cover feature in The Edit magazine because I am in love with the knit wear that she is wearing for her photo shoot. I also admire how her business The Honest Company has become such a resounding success, she recently launched Honest Beauty which is a beauty range under her company that is effective and safe. It’s a story for another blog post coming soon. In the article Jessica talks about being a female CEO and how Hollywood thought she was nuts!
On being a female CEO: “You feel like a lone wolf surrounded by men who have done it all before.”
On women being labeled differently than men: “I’ve actually felt this more in the entertainment industry. People never say a male actor is difficult, they call him smart, but if a woman did the same thing, she would be considered a b***h. I find it funny when I get called ambitious! I’ve even had my agents do intros and say ‘She’s a very ambitious young lady.’ And I’m always like ‘What the f**k does that mean?!”
On the launch of Honest: “Like when we launched Honest- it took us six weeks to realize we weren’t charging credit cards. At the time we were just like, the site hasn’t crashed yet, Thank God! We didn’t even notice people hadn’t paid!”
